Described as an evening of mirth and merriment, Galway’s first Medieval Walk, Talk & Banquet will take place in Galway City on Wednesday 10th May in aid of Galway Simon Community. The medieval event will include a welcome reception in the Hall of the Red Earl and a guided tour, finishing with a sumptuous banquet of food and festivities in the King’s Head.

The event is the first of its kind to be hosted in Galway and promises to be an intimate evening of Galway medieval locations, stories and feasting. The Medieval Walk, Talk & Banquet will kick off at 5:30pm with a welcome reception followed by a guided tour from Michael Quinn of Dúchas na Gaillimhe (Galway Civic Trust) and Dave Swift of Claíomh which will be an entertaining, informative and leisurely stroll through Galway’s medieval highlights including St. Nicholas Collegiate Church, Lynch’s Castle and the old town walls. The last destination of the tour will be the historic surrounds of Banks Castle in the King’s Head for a magnificent banquet fit for king including medieval entertainment and surprises from Claíomh and Galway Early Music.

Speaking about the event, Michael Quinn of Galway Civic Trust (Dúchas na Gaillimhe) said it promises to be a really unique evening. “Such a night of medieval mirth and merriment has not been undertaken in Galway before and we are delighted to contribute our expertise to what is going to be a memorable event” said Michael.

“We’re keenly aware of the growing problem of homelessness in Galway and throughout the country as well as the great work that Simon do to combat the issue. Our mission statement in Galway Civic Trust is ‘to make Galway a better place to visit, live and work in’, and, as such we felt a responsibility to help the more vulnerable members of our community which is why we chose to support Galway Simon Community through this event” Michael added.
