Statistics on Homelessness

Statistics on homelessness

Galway Simon Community works with people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness across Galway City and County. The number of people accessing our services has continued to increase every year since 2013 due to the homelessness and housing crisis.

It is important to note that the homeless figures reported on by the Government each month record the number of people living in Emergency Accommodation only and as such, they do not represent the true extent of the homelessness crisis. Only a very small number of the people that are supported by Galway Simon Community are represented in these figures.
