Fundraising Manager

Full-time Permanent role | 6 months probationary period.
Closing Date: 5pm Sunday 5th December

Job Purpose: The purpose of the role is to is to work closely with the Head of Fundraising and Communications and the Fundraising Team to support the development and implementation of Galway Simon Community’s fundraising strategy. With primary responsibility for driving the individual giving programme to deliver significant growth in both income and supporters; with a key focus on maximising acquisition, regular giving, supporter retention and loyalty.

Receptionist/Admin Assistant

CE Position | 19.5hrs per week | Galway Simon Office

Job Location: Galway Simon Community Office, 11 Sean Mulvoy Centre, Sean Mulvoy Road.

Job Purpose: Responsibilities will involve assisting in the day to day running of the Community under the direction of the permanent staff and the supervisor and will include:

  • General secretarial and reception duties (including monitoring of deliveries in & out and ensuring exits are not blocked).
  • Dealing with queries, in person and on the telephone.
  • Recording and lodgments of donations.
  • Providing administrative support to all departments including HR, Fundraising and Finance Departments and the Housing Teams.
  • Compiling and maintaining databases.
  • Any additional duties that may from time to time be determined by the Committee of Management, staff or the Supervisor.

Additional Details: The office is staffed Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm. Staff may exceptionally, be asked to work outside of these hours when the need arises, in which case time off in lieu will be granted. Any LIEU accrued must be taken in the month worked. Remuneration, holidays and other entitlements are as laid down by DEASP.

General Administrative Assistant

CE Position | 19.5hrs per week | Galway Simon Office

Job Location: Galway Simon Community Office, 11 Sean Mulvoy Centre, Sean Mulvoy Road.

Job Purpose: Responsibilities will involve assisting in the day to day running of the Community under the direction of the permanent staff and the supervisor and will include:

  • General administrative duties
  • Dealing with queries, in person and on the telephone
  • Compiling and maintaining databases
  • Minute taking at meetings
  • Keeping a record of employees who attended training sessions
  • Conducting file audits across all Galway Simon Community Services
  • Compiling reports on Audit findings
  • Communicating with Service employees to ensure outstanding actions relating to audits are completed
  • Any additional duties that may from time to time be determined by the Committee of Management, staff or the Supervisor.

Additional Details: The office is staffed Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm. Staff may exceptionally, be asked to work outside of these hours when the need arises, in which case time off in lieu will be granted. Shop Assistant

CE Position | 19.5hrs per week | Galway Simon Furniture & Fashion Shop

Job Location: Galway Simon Community Furniture & Fashion Shop, Unit 11-13 Sean Mulvoy Centre, Sean Mulvoy Road.

Job Purpose: Responsibilities will include:

  • Timely opening of the shop, Monday to Saturday inclusive, in co-operation with other staff.
  • Ensuring that the shop is clean and tidy before opening for business.
  • Ensuring that customers are always treated with regard, respect and discretion.
  • Organising (in liaison with the Shop Manager and members of staff, volunteers) the collection, sorting and disposal of goods and maintaining stocks of out-of season garments.
  • Assisting with the collection, delivery and storage of furniture and other donated items
  • Attend meetings as necessary.
  • Ensuring that the shop is adequately stocked with clean, good quality items, correctly priced and labelled and presented attractively.
  • Ensuring that the till is never left unattended, counting the cash at the close of business, making up the Shop Receipts book and delivering takings to the Shop Supervisor.
  • Closing and locking the shop in the evening as per guideline sheet.
  • Counting cash, making up shop receipt book and delivering takings to shop manager.
  • Any additional shop-related duties which may be from time to time determined by Management.

Working Hours:

The shop is staffed from 9.00 in the morning to 5.30 p.m., Monday to Saturday inclusive.  Staff may, exceptionally, be asked to work outside these hours when the need arises, in which case equivalent time off in lieu will be allowed. Remuneration, holidays and other entitlements are as laid down by DEASP.

Shop Assistant

CE Position | 19.5hrs per week | The Simon Shop

Job Location: The Simon Shop, Sea Road, Galway.

Job Purpose: Responsibilities will include:

  • Timely opening of the shop, Monday to Saturday inclusive, in co-operation with other staff.
  • Ensuring that the shop is clean and tidy before opening for business.
  • Ensuring that customers are always treated with regard, respect and discretion.
  • Answering the telephone and handling customer enquiries.
  • Organising (in liaison with the Shop Manager and members of staff, volunteers) the sorting and disposal of goods
  • Attending training and meetings as required.
  • Ensuring that the shop is adequately stocked with clean, good quality items, correctly priced and labelled and presented attractively.
  • Ensuring that the till is never left unattended, reconciling the cash at the close of business and updating the shop income book.
  • Closing and locking the shop in the evening.
  • Adhering to Health and Safety regulations.
  • Sharing the cleaning rota with other members of the shop team.
  • Any additional shop-related duties which may be from time to time determined by Management.

Working Hours: This role is 19.5 hours per week. The shop is staffed from 9.15am to 5.15 p.m. Monday to Saturday inclusive. Staff may, exceptionally, be asked to work outside these hours when the need arises, in which case equivalent time off in lieu will be granted. Remuneration, holidays and other entitlements are as laid down by DEASP.

Shop Assistant (Two Positions)

CE Position | 19.5hrs per week | GSPCA Shop

Job Location: 2A St Augustine St, Galway, H91 E3H5

Job Purpose: Responsibilities will include:

  • Timely opening of the shop, Monday to Saturday inclusive, in co-operation with other staff.
  • Ensuring that the shop is clean and tidy before opening for business.
  • Ensuring that customers are always treated with regard, respect and discretion.
  • Dealing with customer enquiries.
  • Organising (in liaison with the Shop Manager and members of staff, volunteers) the sorting and disposal of goods
  • Attending training and meetings as required.
  • Ensuring that the shop is adequately stocked with clean, good quality items, correctly priced and labelled and presented attractively.
  • Ensuring that the till is never left unattended, reconciling the cash at the close of business and updating the shop income book.
  • Closing and locking the shop in the evening.
  • Assisting in the cattery, cleaning litter trays and feeding the cats.
  • Adhering to Health and Safety regulations.
  • Sharing the cleaning rota with other members of the shop team.
  • Any additional shop-related duties which may be from time to time determined by Management.

It is desirable that the successful candidate is an animal lover.

Working Hours:

This role is 19.5 hours per week. The shop is staffed from 10.30am to 5.30 pm., Monday to Saturday inclusive.  Staff may, exceptionally, be asked to work outside these hours when the need arises, in which case equivalent time off in lieu will be granted. Remuneration, holidays and other entitlements are as laid down by DSP.
