As the housing and cost of living crisis deepens more and more people are coming to us in crisis seeking help. The money you raise as part of your #dipadayinmay challenge ensures we can safeguard our services and continue to support those experiencing the deep distress and trauma of homelessness here in the West.
We know how difficult it is to find the time to commit to a 30-day water-based challenge so we’re asking you to create a challenge that works for you. Whether that’s 30 days of cold showers or dipping 3-4 days per week in your local pool, river, lake or sea – it’s up to you! Now all you have to do is:
Share your fundraising link to all of your WhatsApp groups and social media so friends, family and colleagues can support your challenge and raise vital funds for Galway Simon Community.
Stay motivated by other participants throughout the challenge.
As with all water therapy, sea swimming (and dipping!) is renowned for its benefits to our mental health and wellbeing, helping to relieve chronic joint pain, skin problems, respiratory issues, anxiety and depression – and once you get over the cold, it’s fun!
Much like the sea, daily swimmers and dippers are open, buoyant and very welcoming, often offering seasonal tips and exhilarated smiles connecting with you through your shared experience.
Galway Simon is relentlessly committed to finding answers to the questions faced by real people in our community at risk of, or experiencing homelessness. The money you raise goes directly to our Prevention, Housing and Health & Wellbeing services in Galway, Mayo and Roscommon.
All participants will be entered into a draw for one set of four tickets to Hyde Hotel’s Festival Disco Brunch on Saturday, June 2nd. The winner and three of their friends will enjoy a fantastic main course and two amazing cocktails against a background of incredible summer tunes. Galway Simon Community is Hyde Hotel’s Charity of the Year for 2024.
