Dip at Dawn
Online Registrations for Dip at Dawn is now closed but you can still register in person tomorrow morning from 4.20-4:45am.
Grab your yoga mat and swimsuit and share a moment of serenity this summer solstice with the Galway Simon Community in support of those facing homelessness in our community.
Join us at 4:20am on Tuesday June 21st for 20-minutes of rejuvenating yoga salutations led by the amazing team at The Yoga Shala and a refreshing dip at Salthill Beach led by Ebb&Flow, followed by a heavenly hot drink courtesy Salthill’s one and only Barista Bus! Tickets €30 per person.
The yoga salutations involve gentle mindful movement that is suitable for beginners, and people of all ages and abilities. In ancient pagan times, the Summer Solstice symbolised that the power of the sun was at its highest. It was believed to be a sacred time and is still celebrated as such in many countries today. In 2014, The United Nations proclaimed June 21 as International Day of Yoga. Yoga is an ancient tradition that is valuable to our health and our well-being. Yoga is not just about exercise; it is a way to discover a sense of yourself, the world and the nature.
Why Take the Challenge?
1. You will feel AH-MAZING! – Yoga and sea swimming (and dipping!) is renowned for its benefits to your mental health and wellbeing.
2. The first 200 people who register will receive a free exclusive Dip at Dawn T Shirt.
3. Support people’s right to security, dignity and wellbeing in their home. Galway Simon is relentlessly committed to finding answers to the questions faced by real people in our community at risk of, or experiencing homelessness. The money you raise goes directly to our Prevention, Housing and Health & Wellbeing services in Galway, Mayo and Roscommon.
The Difference YOU Can Make
Our goal is to sell 200 tickets and raise €6,000 for people in our community living with the fear of facing homelessness. The €30 you spend on your ticket will go directly to our Homelessness Prevention, Supported Housing and Health and Well-being services.
Learn more about the difference you can make by reading stories from real people who have faced the trauma of homelessness and whom, with our assistance and your financial support, were able to put homelessness behind them for good here.

What do I need to bring with me on the morning?
Warm clothes – layering your clothes can help keep you warm both before the yoga salutations and after your dip.
Swimwear – wear your swimwear under your clothes to the event so you can comfortably and quickly strip and dip!
Yoga mat and towel – if you don’t want to get too much sand on your yoga mat why not bring a large bath towel to place between your mat and the sand.
Extra towel / towel robe – towel robes are super convenient for changing after your dip but a large towel can also make it that little bit easier to get changed with ease and grace.
Hot water bottle – for those of us who desperately feel the cold a hot water bottle is a tremendous tool to bring warmth and circulation back into our fingers and toes.
