Volunteering

Galway Simon Community was founded by a group of volunteers in 1979 who refused to accept
homelessness on the streets of Galway. Since then, volunteers have been an integral part of our community and our work simply would not be possible without them.

Shops

Our shops on Sean Mulvoy Road Sea Road are staffed with volunteers and each of them works as a shop assistant for a minimum of 4 hours a week.

Fundraising Events

Responsibilities are varied depending on the event and can include bucket collections, stewarding, ticketing, hospitality and much more.

Full time volunteers from Europe come to Galway Simon to work alongside our skilled staff in our services. The full-time volunteer typically spends nine to twelve months at Galway Simon and are an integral part of our team, bringing their skills and energy to the work we do.

European Funded Volunteer Programme:

Galway Simon Community hosts European Solidarity Corps volunteers for between 10-12 months each year, this is administered by Léargas.

The European Solidarity Corps (ESC) is a European Union initiative which creates opportunities for young people to volunteer or work in projects in their own country or abroad that benefit communities and people around Europe.
