Join us this Winter Solstice morning as we gather on the shores of Salthill to welcome the brighter days to come. Â
For thousands of years, the Winter Solstice has been celebrated by cultures across the world as a powerful turning point in the year. It marks the shortest day and longest night, a moment when darkness begins to give way to light and hope returns once more. Â
As dawn breaks over Salthill, we’ll come together for a refreshing dip in Galway Bay, a warming hot drink and a shared moment of reflection, gratitude and connection. Â
But this is about more than watching the sunrise. Â
Every day, people across Galway, Mayo and Roscommon face the uncertainty, trauma and hardship of homelessness. By taking part in Dip at Dawn, you’re helping Galway Simon Community support people experiencing homelessness and housing insecurity throughout Galway, Mayo and Roscommon. Â
Standing together on Winter Solstice morning reminds us that however dark life can feel, brighter days lie ahead. It reminds us of the power of community, compassion and belonging. Â
As the first light appears on the horizon, we’ll celebrate what connects us all: the hope that everyone has a place to call home. Â
