Homeless charity, Galway Simon Community, are calling out for local restaurants and cafés to sign up to their ‘Soup for Simon’ campaign which is taking place during this year’s national Simon Week, from 26th September to 2nd October. The campaign will see participating businesses donate €1 from each bowl of soup they sell during Simon Week.

Amy Lavelle, Community Partnerships Fundraiser at Galway Simon Community, says the initiative is an easy way for people to give back this Simon Week. “The great thing about ‘Soup for Simon’ is that it’s a small ask that requires little action from the business’s point of view yet it has the potential to make a powerful impact,” she said.

“It’s also really easy for the public to get involved, all they have to do purchase a bowl of soup in a participating restaurant or café and €1 will be donated on their behalf directly to Galway Simon,” she added.

Galway Simon is currently working with over 200 people who are facing homelessness. Their work focuses on preventing people from becoming homeless as well as supporting those without a home.

This simple initiative allows local businesses and members of the community to play their part in making a difference. Several local businesses have signed up so far, including Seven, Eat at Massimo’s, Le Petit Pois, Taste Matters and The Twelve Hotel.
