Galway Simon Community have announced another brand new location for their annual Sleep Out which will take place on Friday, 4th October. This year, the people of Moycullen have come together as a community to host a sleep out where friends, families, and colleagues will swap their beds for sleeping bags for one night in a bid to tackle homelessness in Galway.

Recently appointed team leader for the Moycullen Sleep Out, Karl Lippett, said ‘’we were so inspired by The Village Salthill coming on board that we decided to rally together as a community and organise our own sleep out here in the village. Having slept out myself last year on Shop Street I really would encourage people from the local area to get involved and help to raise essential funds to help continue to prevent homelessness here in Galway”.

100% of proceeds will go directly towards extending Galway Simon’s Homelessness Prevention Services which include a Community Support Team, a dedicated Youth Service, a specialist Women and Family Service as well as a drop in resource centre outside of Galway City. At a time where hundreds of families and individuals are facing the real threat of losing their homes, there is an urgent need to continue to ensure that these preventative measures are in place.

Rise to the challenge and register to take part today. If you are thinking about getting involved with colleagues or a local community group, or are a business that would like to lend your support, please get in touch with Amy on 091 381828.
