With just over a week to go, Galway Simon’s Kick Assphalt 10/10 Run is gearing up to be one of the biggest running events this summer in Galway. The event, sponsored by the Bons Secours Hospital Galway, is taking place on Sunday 28th June at 10am in Salthill, Galway.
Last year’s women’s winners were Galway athletes, Jane-Ann Meehan (10 miles) and Sinead Brody (10KM) who are taking part in the race again this year. Speaking about the event, Jane-Ann Meehan said “I cannot think of a faster, flatter race to run taking in the scenic views of the Galway coastline whilst raising money for homelessness”.
The Kick Assphalt 10/10 run is perfect for first time walkers, joggers or runners as well as anyone who is looking to chase a personal best because of the flat and fast course along the Salthill Prom, which has been officially measured. Participants can choose from a 10KM or 10 mile distance to put homelessness on the run! Participants must be 18 years of age or over and each will be provided with a medal, running t-shirt and official timing for the race.
Galway Simon Community provide services to those who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. The charity currently provides homeless services to over 150 men and women. The Kick Assphalt 10/10 Run is one of the charity’s major fundraisers of the year which helps to fund the vital services that they provide. By taking part in this event, you are helping to change the lives of those affected by homelessness.
Entry is €25 and groups of 5 or more receive a 15% discount. The online registration deadline is Thursday 25th June 2015 at midday, however, we can register you on the day of the event. For more information and to register for the event, go to www.galwaysimon.ie or call (091) 394 638.
