Galway Simon Community is calling on local businesses and schools to host a Christmas Jumper Day on Friday 14th December and make a difference in your local community.
The concept is simple; staff and students can wear their festive woollies and pledge to donate €5 (or a donation of your choice) to Galway Simon. All money raised will go towards preventing individuals and families from slipping into homelessness.
Communications and Fundraising Manager, Deirdre Treacy is encouraging local schools and businesses to get involved in the initiative. “Christmas can often be one of the most difficult times of the year and it’s initiatives like this that can make a huge difference for those that we support. So far this year, we have already supported 484 households and the demand for our services is not slowing down. Sadly, many of the people we are meeting are being served with eviction notices with nowhere to go.”
Christmas Jumper Day is a really fun and easy way to get involved in supporting your local community. If you’re school or business would like to host a Christmas Jumper Day or would like further information, please get in touch with Deirdre in Galway Simon Community on 091 381828 or email [email protected]
