Galway Simon Community are calling out for volunteers across their services. Over the last year, the charity has worked with 366 people, including families, who were homeless or at risk of homelessness and turned to them for help. To keep up with this demand, they rely heavily on volunteers in their housing services, their charity shops and fundraising. Galway Simon Community is currently recruiting part-time volunteers for the following roles: event volunteers, residential volunteers, befrienders, shop volunteers and skills volunteers.
“Volunteering is one of the most rewarding experiences someone can have” says Jenny Joyce, Volunteer Coordinator of Galway Simon Community. “Not only are you supporting the community and our work, but you are also meeting new people and learning new skills which can improve your employability prospects and overall confidence. More importantly, it gives you the rewarding feeling of having made a difference.
“Our volunteers come from all sorts of backgrounds, and from around the world. They play a crucial role in the work we do. We rely on up to 60 volunteers at any one time to support our clients and staff. Without them, we would not be able to provide our services to the people we are working with.”
