On Saturday December 14th local music group ‘The A Capella Knights’ filled the Galway Cathedral to capacity at their annual Christmas Concert in aid of Galway Simon Community.
At the concert, there was a fantastic line up of festive music and dance with a range of epic performances from the Frenchville Brass Ensemble; Hession School of Dance; Galway Simon’s Music Project; and, for the first time ever, the amazing Skehana Folk Group.
Speaking about the unbelievable attendance on the night, the ‘Knights’ said “We are so delighted with the turnout at this year’s concert. This was our 5th annual concert in aid of Galway Simon, and we are thrilled that 100% of proceeds will go to their Health and Wellness fund” they said. Galway Simon’s Community Fundraiser, Amy Lavelle, also commented on the success of this year’s event, saying “It was absolutely heart-warming to see the Cathedral filled from wall to wall this year and the line-up of performers was simply stellar.” Speaking about The A Capella Knights, Amy said “The time and dedication that the group have devoted over the past five years is truly outstanding and we can’t thank them enough for it. We would also like to extend a special thanks and our warmest Christmas wishes to everyone who supported the event and who joined us on the night.”
Over the past four years, The A Capella group have raised over €35,000 for Galway Simon services and with funds from this year’s event still coming in, they are on track reach a phenomenal overall total of €50,000.
